DIRECTOR'S NOTES
NOTES FROM GENEVIÈVE
Since 2018, I have been giving acting workshops to a group of 29 teenagers and adults living with Down syndrome. I have learned so much from this collaboration, through their simplicity, their imagination and their pleasure in playing and embodying characters. I have also met extraordinary, complex and intense people. I wanted to share this with the public. Because we very often see them playing their condition, playing the character with Down syndrome. But what do they want to play as an actor?
With Colin Nixon, Emma-Jeanne Robitaille and Alexandre Pelletier, we started from them, from their improvisations and their reflections to create the characters and the story. We wanted to make a film that reflects their uniqueness, a film that is quirky and different like them.
